Fun Facts “Read-alouds”
Knowledge-focussed literacy increases engagement and improves reading success. Meant to be read to the child before they read the book, the read-aloud fun facts are unique to each book, but expand on the information about the animal characters and their habitat. These fun facts create interest and give context to each story.
Comprehension questions for each story solidify understanding.
Character-driven stories: learn the diverse personalities of the central characters and how they support and respect each other on their remote island.
Lighthearted, colourful, and humourous stories, each 16 pages long.
The books ergonomic design uses an accessible typeface and text length. Warm paper colour and comfortable size (6 x 8”).

Two types of reading
1. Reading for success:
Any time of day, your child can read a letter, a word, a sentence, a book - at their level, not above, using only the sounds they have learned (and usually best not at bed time when they’re tired. Reading’s hard work!)
- promotes success and accomplishment
2. Being read to - a “READ ALOUD”:
At bed time (or any time)(or there is a fun fact read-aloud in the start of each of our decodable readers) a parent, teacher, sibling, friend, or grandparent can read TO your child - any book that interests them
- inspires a love of reading
